Famous Soccer Players Who Started in Youth Leagues
Lionel Messi
Began playing soccer in his hometown of Rosario, Argentina,
with Newell’s Old Boys’ youth team. At age 13, he moved to Spain to join FC Barcelona’s famed academy. He made his professional debut at 17 and went on to win multiple Ballon d'Or awards and lead Argentina to a World Cup victory.
Christian Pulisic
Developed his skills in Pennsylvania youth leagues before
moving to Germany to join Borussia Dortmund’s academy at 16. Now a key
