Dribbling
Dribbling is essential for maintaining possession and navigating past defenders. It enables players to advance the ball effectively and create opportunities for their team.
Cone Dribbling
- Set up a series of cones in a straight line, about 1 meter apart.
- Have the players dribble the ball in and out of the cones using small touches.
- Focus on using both feet and maintaining control of the ball.
Passing
Passing is critical for team coordination and ball movement. It allows players to distribute the ball efficiently, helping to maintain possession and create scoring opportunities.
Passing Pairs
- Pair up the players and have them stand about 5 meters apart.
- Instruct them to pass the ball back and forth using the inside of their foot.
- Focus on accuracy and proper technique, such as the positioning of the non-kicking foot and the follow-through.
Shooting
Shooting is the key to scoring goals and winning games. It requires precision and power, enabling players to convert opportunities into points.
Target Shooting
- Set up small goals or targets within a larger goal.
- Have players take turns shooting at the targets from various distances.
- Encourage using both feet and practicing different shots (e.g., low-driven shots, chips).
Ball Control
Ball control is vital for maintaining possession and dictating the pace of the game. It helps players to receive and manage the ball effectively under pressure.
Juggling
- Encourage players to juggle the ball using their feet, thighs, and head.
- Start with simple tasks, like keeping the ball in the air with their feet.
- Gradually increase the difficulty by setting targets for the number of touches.
Defending
Defending is crucial for stopping an opponent’s advances and protecting your goal. It involves strategic positioning and decisive actions to regain possession.
1v1 Defending
- Create a small playing area and pair up the players.
- One player acts as the attacker, trying to dribble past the defender to a designated end line.
- The defender focuses on staying between the attacker and the goal, using proper stance and timing to make a tackle or block.
