What to Pack for Tryout Day
Charlotte Rise FC’s 2025–2026 Academy Team Tryouts kick off April 21 and run through May 22. Whether this is your child’s first tryout or they’re returning for another season, showing up fully prepared can help reduce stress and boost performance.
Here’s a simple checklist to make sure nothing is left behind.
Tryout Day Packing Checklist
Mandatory
Cleats + Socks
- Comfortable cleats that are already broken in
- One pair of long soccer socks—plus an extra, just in case
Clothing Essentials
- Black socks
- Black shorts
- Black or grey Jersey
Optional
Soccer Ball
- Bring a properly inflated ball (check size for your child’s age group).
Shin Guards
- Just for the safety of your child. They are allowed to participate without them.
Water Bottle
- A large, refillable bottle—label it with your child’s name.
Light Snacks
- A small snack for before or after, especially for long sessions (fruit, granola bars, or crackers work well).
Weather-Appropriate Clothing
- Moisture-wicking shirt
- Black or grey shorts
- Extra layer (light jacket or hoodie) for colder mornings
- Extra socks or a jersey if rain is expected
Extras That Make a Difference
- Small towel or wipes
- Sunscreen
- Hair ties or headbands (if needed)
- A soccer bag to keep everything together
Pro Tip
Pack the Night Before
Mornings before tryouts can be rushed, so help your child feel relaxed and ready by packing their bag the evening before. Go over this checklist together and set out their clothes in advance.
Mental Preparation
Matters Too
Don’t forget—mindset is just as important as equipment.
- Encourage them to try their best
- Remind them it’s okay to make mistakes
- Keep the mood positive and focused on growth
